Strongroom Bar

Roots Studio was a weekly event held at the Strongroom Studios in East London from 2000-2003, hosting a roots & culture night where many of London based artists passed through. After the bar was closed in 2003 we attempted to keep the event running but eventually had to succumb to venue problems and after holding one off events in other venues such as Cargo in Shoreditch & the Concorde in Brighton, a change was made to

promote artists rather than promote events. This was not a conscious decision as the continuing struggle carried on after London lost many iconic venues for the roots reggae fraternity as well as the music industry in general – Brixton Rec, Imperial Gardens, Turnmills, The Astoria, The End, The Wag - as well as many others fell along the way due to gentrification, flat building and complete loss of cultural venues. London fast became a

musical club wasteland.

So things had to change – and we went onto promote artists, DJ’s & Sound systems - past & present artists we worked alongside include - Afrikan Simba, Channel One, Lexxy, Stamina Li, Ras Muffet, Sandeeno, Rick Wayne, Mighty Tabot Sound System and related singers - Sister Eherta, Finote & others. Travelling extensively within Europe meant many working relationships & friendships were forged - more notably in France & Belgium with

Jah Militant, Salomon Heritage, Blackboard Jungle, Chalice Sound System, Roots Meditation, I-Skankers, Dub Livity, Musical Riot, Get Up Association and way too many others to mention here. Having worked in different areas within the music industry over many years as a financial advisor, tour accountant, event & bar manager this has enabled us to understand what the artists & bands wish to achieve in regards to their chosen career as well as avoid the many pitfalls that many artists would wish to avoid - In all we do - we remember that we work for - The Artist.

We will be representing Roots Reggae but also other artists from various musical genres as artists from their Roots....... Our approach is team-oriented, working with others to achieve great results.

We strive to work alongside emerging as well as established talents to bring the music to the people; we believe also that roots music is the foundation of many music genres. Our accumulated knowledge, relationships and contacts across the industry allow us to launch, sustain and enhance an Artist’s career - there will be live events along the way that you will of course be invited to......
